Dobroyd achieves its first Double Premiers

After a season spanning 6 long months, it gives me the greatest of pleasures to confirm......

DPCC Yetis Div 6 Premiers for 2016/17!!

and...

DPCC Kanoots Div 4 Premiers for 2016/17!!

Wow.

Only as I'm settling in at home tonight has it really started to sink in what we've all achieved..

All of us.

Many of us stood at our AGM 8 months ago upstairs at the Garry Owen hotel. We'd talked through the experiences of having 2 DPCC sides in 2015/16 (for the first time in a long time) - which in most respects was very tough, especially for the Yetis. But we also talked about actually winning 2 comps in the coming year. I can talk a lot of horseshit at times (especially today in the field...) but I really thought we could do something special this season..

In that same pub about 3 hours ago, in almost the same spot I was chairing that AGM, I drank a victory beer with my brothers celebrating that very feat..

2 premierships.

For the record, the Yetis won by 6 wickets, and after they celebrated their title victory on the sidelines, the Kanoots rolled Summer Hill by 29 runs with about 15 minutes left of play in the day..

When Pat Boyd stumped the final Summer Hill wicket off Ric Saunders, winning the comp for the Kanoots, I was in the outfield watching my teammates go berko in a huddle. I looked around to the yetis supporting us after their victory, also going berko.. I took a moment to myself to take it all in before joining my team mates.. I had a stupid smile on my face looking to the sky thinking "we've achieved because we've believed - in ourselves and in each other".

This club can be summed up by what we all did yesterday morning to get games going.. Robby n Jeff had scouted the place and Thursday - most of gannons was a under a flood that Noah wouldn't have an ark big enough for.. Rather than whinge, battle plans were drawn..

Big Show was getting gear sorted and tips from groundskeepers to get grounds playable. Nimmers was coordinating transport, I shouted out to all to get there early and hook in. We got there early doing whatever the fuck we could to remove water, ankle deep in stinking mud at points. Even late on Saturday Fletch was still super-soppering the Yetis field... The umpires commented they'd never seen anything like it - ever. The opposition were laughing at us..

Whose laughing now..

Be it your first season with DPCC (Ramesh, Chris, Josh, Kaz, Manju, Mir, Murali, Gurpreet) or your 147th season (Jeff Boyd) you are members of our brotherhood for life. And It's been an absolute honour to have played alongside every single one of you this year.
